Setup
1
Start Request+
Open the Request+ desktop app first. The SoundCloud bridge connects to Request+‘s local WebSocket server at
ws://localhost:443, so the app needs to stay running while you use SoundCloud.2
Select SoundCloud
In Request+, open Settings -> Platform Settings -> Main Platform and choose SoundCloud. Settings save automatically after you change the platform.
3
Load the SoundCloud bridge
Open SoundCloud in your browser and load the Request+ SoundCloud script through BetterSoundCloud or your custom JavaScript loader. The loader used by the app fetches
soundcloud.js from the Request+ GitHub repository:4
Verify the connection
Start playing a public SoundCloud track. Within a second or two, Request+ should show the current track metadata and the overlay should update.
5
Test a request
Send a chat request with a full SoundCloud track URL, such as
!sr https://soundcloud.com/artist/track-name. Request+ only accepts SoundCloud links for this integration; plain-text SoundCloud search is not currently supported. What to expect
- Request+ reads the current SoundCloud title, artist, artwork, playback progress, like state, volume, and repeat state from the SoundCloud page.
- Playback controls in Request+ can send play/pause, next, previous, like, volume, seek, and queue commands back to SoundCloud.
- When chat requests a SoundCloud URL, Request+ adds it to its queue and hands it to the SoundCloud page when it is time to play.
- Want to not have to reload the browser multiple times? Use BetterSoundCloud for a auto inject client!
Known limitations
- The SoundCloud browser tab must remain open with the bridge loaded.
- Private, removed, or geo-restricted tracks may not resolve.
- Track metadata comes from SoundCloud’s page markup, so it can break when SoundCloud changes its UI.
- Request+ does not currently perform SoundCloud search from plain text chat requests.
